
Bigbee:
released in the 1980's to begin the berseem clover revolution. Improved winter hardiness, top yields. Bigbee is popular in the southern states up to the Mid West where it is a spring planted crop.
Multicut:
Improved yields with the ability to be harvested several times though early may. Replaced Bigbee berseem in California. Excellent performance in UC trials.
Burton:
Improved winter hardiness in California over Bigbee. Several winter temperatures of 8-10 days below freezing in 1985 and later temperature of 24° F without stand loss. Burton has out yielded Bigbee by up to 15% in UC trials. Named for Joe Burton. 10 days later in maturity than other multicut berseem varieties
Trialex:
blend of improved berseem varieties that has worked well in California the last few years. Excellent performance in growers fields.
Berseem clover performs well with overseeding alfalfa as a crop alone and in pasture mixes. In addition, Berseem clover stands wet feet very well, even works in rice fields for cover crop.
Planting Berseem Clover:
Plant at 4 pounds with new alfalfa plantings no more.
Plant up to 15-20 pounds per acre alone. Plant 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep.
Plant in October for best yields and performance.
