Forest Cover Crop
Forest cover crop mix is designed to help with erosion control, fix nitrogen from the atmosphere, improve wildlife cover and feed, and improve organic matter.
Value:
- Nitrogen fixation - up to 200 pounds per acre
- Wildlife cover and feed (seed eating birds, deer, others)
- Erosion control - vetches spread as they grow, help with ground cover
- Improve organic matter - roots and tops will help organic matter as this mix will go to seed and die in the summer. Minimum completion with trees.
Question - How long will it last?
- No more than two years - as annuals have to reseed themselves.
- These legumes are not shade tolerant
