
Playground Turf
Playground turf should be safe, long lasting, a good playing surface with low maintenance.
Suggestions for turf for specific games
- Sport: Baseball
Level of Use: High use public fields turf type tall fescue with Kentucky Bluegrass.
Specific area:
- Outfield- combination of hard fescue, creeping red fescue, and chewings fescue.
- Infield- combination of turf type perennial ryegrass and Kentucky bluegrass.
- Sport: Golf
Specific Areas:
- Tees and Fairways mowed 5/8" or less should use creeping bent grass over 5/8" use turf type perennial ryegrass, and over 1/2" use Kentucky bluegrass.
- Greens mowed 1/4" or less use creeping bentgrass.
- Roughs can use perennial ryegrass and where low maintenance program is used hard fescue (low fertility and shade adapted).
- Sport: Football and Soccer
Level of Use: Tough users of turf.
Recommendations: Sod forming turf grasses that will mend do best. Mix of turf type perennial ryegrass and Kentucky bluegrass. Where bermuda grass has invaded we can help you overseed with perennial ryegrass and Kentucky bluegrass in late fall to compete with bermuda grass.
- Sport: Tennis
Recommendations: Blend of Kentucky bluegrass and perennial ryegrass for the best surface.
